Rehearsals for the Getafe Concert Band’s 2026/2027 season—titled “Pilares BMG”—are now underway.

October 3
“Francisco Aguado Martí” Concert band exchange, featuring the Linares “1875” Musical Association.
November 21
The repertoire constitutes one of the fundamental pillars upon which a music band’s artistic identity is built. In addition to original works for symphonic band, this concert will feature a well-deserved tribute to the composer Manuel de Falla—a native of Cádiz—commemorating the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The BMG “Pilares” (Pillars) 26–27 season is built upon seven concepts that define who we are: identity, community, commitment, hard work, passion, a shared vision, and a legacy spanning generations.
Every concert, every piece, and every performance is constructed upon these pillars, which interact much like the voices within the band—supporting, complementing, and elevating one another to create a musical experience that transcends the individual.

The Linares “1875” Musical Association is one of Andalusia’s most iconic bands, heir to a tradition dating back to the late 19th century that has successfully evolved without losing the essence of its origins. Its name pays tribute to the year the city of Linares solidified a vibrant musical life—one that, over time, would become a hallmark of cultural identity for the entire region.

The evolution of wind bands has been closely linked to the evolution of their repertoire. Throughout much of the 19th and 20th centuries, transcriptions of major orchestral works brought symphonic music to audiences who would otherwise have had little opportunity to enjoy it in concert halls, thereby playing a vital role in cultural outreach. Over time, this legacy has been enriched by an extraordinary body of original music for symphonic band, establishing these ensembles as an artistic medium with a distinctive musical language and a remarkably rich repertoire.

The New Year’s Concert holds a special place in the BMG season. It is a unique event, designed to start the year from a more intimate and open perspective—one where music remains the central focus, yet room is also made for other elements that define the personality of an ensemble that views the stage as a place for connection.
As part of the “BMG Pillars” season, this concert celebrates fun as a fundamental aspect of our vision for a music band. After all, music is also about play, emotion, and celebration—a way for us to come together and continue building our shared history.

Since its origins, music has been linked to the human need to tell stories. Before the advent of today’s mass media, troubadours and minstrels traveled along roads and through public squares, sharing tales, legends, and emotions through their voices and instruments. Today, musical groups keep that storytelling capacity alive, using sound as a vehicle to envision places, recall moments, and evoke emotions.
